AMIC Travel Advisory

(as of 10 April 2019)

Visa Requirement, Exemptions and Visa on Arrival

Before travelling to Thailand, please check your visa requirements. Make sure you have a valid visa, if needed.

Visitors to Thailand must obtain a visa from Thai diplomatic missions unless they come from visa-exempt countries, which include all ASEAN members, or a country whose citizens are eligible to obtain visas on arrival.

For summary of countries and territories entitled to Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival to Thailand, please see:

Suvarnabhumi International Airport

Taxi Service

AMIC will not be able to arrange pick-up at the airport for our participants. You will therefore need to make your own way to the hotel where you have booked or Chulalongkorn University, if you are arriving on Day 01 of the Conference.

After completing your immigration process and claiming your baggage (carrousels are located immediately after the immigration kiosks), after exiting, you can proceed by elevator or escalator to Level 1 (Ground Floor) where the metered taxi stand is located.

Do not forget to get your taxi ticket at the taxi queue machine. Then proceed to the lane number printed on your ticket and present it to the taxi driver.

In addition to the metered fare, the taxi driver will ask for a 50 Baht airport surcharge and expressway toll fees.

The average travel time from the airport to Central Bangkok is 45 minutes to an hour (depending on traffic).

For more details about public taxi service, please visit https://www.bangkokairportonline.com/bangkok-airport-public-taxi-service/

Airport Link

The Airport Rail Link is a commuter rail system that provides convenient transport between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Central Bangkok with stops at the Makkasan Station where you can connect to the Bangkok Subway (MRT) Petchaburi Station or Bangkok Skytrain (BTS) at Phayathai Station, which is the final stop.

The train service is located at B1 Floor of the airport.

The Airport Link is the fastest and cheapest way to get to central Bangkok from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).

The Airport Rail link operates daily from 06:00 to 24:00, with commuter City Line trains departing every 10 minutes during peak hours (06:00-09:00 and 16:00-20:00) and 15 minutes off peak and weekends.

The standard fare is between 15–45 baht depending on distance.
